CPG data components

CPG data components are written from Ansys LS-DYNA 2025R1 (R16) to a new database file d3dat and may be "contoured" in 2D/3D plotting modes as data components. "Contouring" is a misnomer in this context, since each particle is independent and has a single value, however the display of this value can still be useful.

The format of the d3dat file allows D3PLOT to dynamically find and display all of the data components present in the file since the components output to the file vary with the *AIRBAG_CPG definition and inputs. In addition to scalar data components such as "temperature", the d3dat file can also contain vector components such as "Particle Velocity".  If D3PLOT finds vector components then the Vector magnitude and the individual directional components can be contoured in CT, SI and CL plots and the data can also be displayed in a Vector plot.

Ansys LS-DYNA (2025R1 [R16]) only supports a single CPG airbag in an analysis. 

Other values calculated by D3PLOT

Data mapping (see Mapping Data Onto a Cellular Grid for Plotting) can be used to calculate further data components for CPG airbag particles.
